An award-winning transition is almost complete with every detail, big and small, carefully planned to enhance the overall guest experience.  In addition to the changes at our property, the revitalization of Waikiki has brought new life and fervor to vacation plans.

Following is an overview of the exciting new enhancements at the Sheraton Waikīkī for you to review and to share with your clients and colleagues.  Periodic updates will be posted as projects progress.

The enhancements currently in progress at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel Resort include:

SPA & FITNESS CENTER—newly opened

The ultimate renewal experience is just steps away at the newly-opened Spa Khakara and Sheraton Fitness Center by Core.  Khakara’s interior has been designed with modern, organic touches with eight treatment rooms including four suite rooms for couples, and two steam rooms.  Khakara offers unique treatments and services that rejuvenate the body, mind and soul, and personalized customer care to suit the needs of each guest.  Right next door, the Fitness Center by Core offers state-of-the-art workout equipment and a user friendly computer system to encourage those wanting to break a sweat.

HELUMOA PLAYGROUND—newly opened

A new, first-of-its-kind “superpool” opened on Waikiki Beach, as the Sheraton Waikiki’s expansive resort activity area called the Helumoa Playground.  The Playground sits between the Sheraton Waikiki and The Royal Hawaiian, A Luxury Collection Resort and was once the residence of Kamehameha the Great.  It features two fresh-water swimming pools, a 23-foot high, 70-foot long water slide, a staging area for outdoor functions, two 20-person Jacuzzis with sweeping views of Waikiki Beach, an interactive fountain area for kids, fun and creative food and beverage, chaise water sunning benches.  Our guests may borrow towels and purchase pool goods including sun products, inflatable floatation devices and toys at our Pool Hut. The Playground also offers the perfect spot for family activities such as lei making, water slide races, hula lessons, story telling and star-gazing.

Pool-goers have two delicious options for snacks and refreshments.  Light, healthy fare will be available at RumFire’s Diamond Head terrace area, serving soups, salads and sandwiches – all created with a farm-to-table concept that the Sheraton has recently incorporated into its food and beverage outlets.  In addition, pool-goers may opt to order from their lounge chair to enjoy hearty “local-style” plate lunches and shave ice to cool off from the warm Hawaiian sun.

THE INFINITY EDGE POOL—opening September 2009

The Infinity Edge Pool will be Sheraton’s adult-only pool – a completely revamped infinity edge pool with a sophisticated party vibe and a full-service bar: The Edge of Waikiki for daytime drinks and socializing. Take a dip, lounge with a tropical drink or simply soak in the Hawaiian sun. The choices are many; the outcome is the same – pure rejuvenation. Estimated completion date is September 2009.

LOBBY (Diamond Head Side)

The Diamond Head side of our Lobby is undergoing a fresh enhancement to open up the area and encompass the a stunning view of Diamond Head Crater.   The new lobby will also feature “Link by Sheraton” where guests can gather, connect to the internet and relax while enjoying breathtaking views.“

DINING

At Sheraton Waikiki, diners will revel in the many contemporary dining venues that have undergone complete makeovers.  The resort’s culinary offerings now adhere to a “farm to table” concept of serving only the freshest local ingredients found in Hawaii to produce a product that offers quality, sophistication and sustainability. Hip, cool and world-class, these restaurants are designed to tantalize and deliver a treat for your palate.  The ultra-chic and award-winning RumFire just got hotter by becoming larger – now offering more seating and fire pits spilling out towards the Helumoa Playground.  Thirty floors above Waikiki Beach, Twist at Hanohano offers flavors from around the world, along with contemporary styling and inspiring ambience to create dining experiences to satisfy every appetite and every mood.  Twist serves Breakfast and Dinner.
